Anyone who thinks “just working with computers” is the sole focus of the IT industry should realize that working with people is also a major requirement—and a major reward. So says Eric Wellington, dean of the Business and Computer Information System school at Pennsylvania’s Delaware County Community College. Wellington offers helpful insight throughout this look at the vocational side of the IT industry, which also features profiles of three IT workers who make comfortable livings after only two years of higher education. Viewers meet Bob, a help desk administrator for Swiss Farms, an innovative retail company; Mike, a system administrator for AWeber Communications; and Joe, a network engineer for Sungard Availability Services.
